Are you jealous of your kids having all the fun out on the water in Sargent’s Bay? Luckily for you, this summer SBYC will be offering a 4-day sailing program that is focused on showing you, the sport your children care so much about! Don’t worry if you have never sailed before, as long as you don’t mind getting a little wet we are happy to have you join the program. Over the four-day period you will be able to work towards getting your CANSail levels.
Over the four days, we will focus on getting everyone comfortable doing basic maneuvers in a sailboat, such as docking, sailing around a course, tacking, gybing, righting a capsized boat and understanding the different points of sail.
The program will be held starting on July 1st. Every Sunday, the club has a club race in which we will encourage you to come out with your child to compete against other club members.
Important information: Dates: Saturday, July 1st, July 8th, July 22nd, and July 29th Pickup: Georgeville and Knowlton’s Landing at 9:00 AM Dropoff: Georgeville and Knowlton’s Landing at 3:00 PM Cost: 250$
Can you promise me that I will beat my child after the four-day program? Legally, SBYC cannot say whether or not you will be capable of beating your child in a sailing regatta. However, we encourage you to come out on Sunday to find out! We can lend you a boat, give you a ride to the club, and it’s free if you’ve paid your yearly membership.
Do I need to be a member to take part in the adult sailing program? Yes, you do need to be a member to take part in the adult sailing program. The annual membership is $100 per family, this allows you to compete in Sunday races and have your children sail with us during the week.
