Sargent's Bay Yacht Club was founded in 1935 by four prominent residents of the west shore of Lake Memphremagog, Sydney Lyman, Dr. Wilder Penfield, Philip Fisher and his brother Roswell Eric Fisher. The sailing school initially focused on regattas for adult sailors, but social events also proved very popular. The annual Labor Day picnic attracted over 300 guests at its peak.

The SBYC is now in its 91st year:

• a home away from home;
• a place where your children learn to sail, and where your parents learned to sail;
• a rustic destination with no electricity;
• a place to build genuine friendships;
  
• and above all, a community.
